Getting paid

Stop doing invoices at the kitchen table.

The old way
  • Type it up at 10pm from scribbled notes
  • Email a PDF and hope they read it
  • Wait for a bank transfer that may never come
  • Work up the nerve to chase — again
  • Type it all into your books at year end
With Mortar
  • One tap turns the approved estimate into an invoice
  • Sent by text and email with a pay button
  • Paid by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay in seconds
  • Polite reminders go out automatically
  • Everything flows into QuickBooks or Xero

FAQ

Invoicing questions.

When does the money reach my bank?

Card payments are paid out to your bank account automatically.

Can customers still pay by bank transfer?

Yes. Your bank details appear on every invoice, and you can mark it paid in a tap.

Can I pass card fees on to the customer?

Whether a surcharge is allowed depends on your state and the card networks. Mortar doesn't add one automatically. Check the rules that apply to your business.

Does it work with my accountant's software?

Yes. Invoices and payments sync to QuickBooks and Xero. Mortar is not tax software and doesn't file with the IRS — sales tax stays in the books your accountant already uses.

How many invoices can I send?

As many as you like. Invoicing is included in your Mortar plan.
