FAQ

Estimating questions.

What's the difference between an estimate and a quote?

An estimate is your best price for the job, which can change. A quote is a fixed price. Mortar labels each clearly so customers know what they're agreeing to.

Can customers approve on their phone?

Yes. They open the link, read the estimate, and approve with a tap and signature — no app or login needed.

Does Morris set my prices?

No. Morris uses your notes and your price book to lay out the estimate. It never invents prices — you check everything before it's sent.

Do I have to add sales tax?

Turn sales tax off and the estimate shows the total without it. Mortar doesn't decide whether sales tax applies to the job.

Is estimating included in the price?

Yes. Unlimited estimates are included in your Mortar plan, along with everything else.
